The Barrow/Burkow Show
Tuesday, August 5th, Soap was invited to play Kavanaugh Square in Ardsley Park, Savannah, to lend its good vibrations to Ardsley’s National Neighborhood Night Out.
We were surprised to be joined by Congressman John Barrow – who rode a bicycle to the event – and the Savannah Police Chief, Michael Berkow. This was their first-ever Soap show, if you can believe that.
If you’re like me, then you probably didn’t know that National Neighborhood Night Out is a crime prevention initiative with the following objectives:
* Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
* Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
* Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Pusherman was definitely out of the question for this gig!
